while we are on the subject.

since adriane shared a pet peeve, i am going to share my newest peeve. the reality of this peeve is that it only rears its ugly head on facebook. and there are only a select number of instances throughout any given day, but it makes my skin crawl and blood boil. and i want to mock every instance of this said peeve, but i have to remember to be kind. and it's my own fault because there are ways to avoid having to see all occurrences.

so, without further ado, here is my latest pet peeve:

it goes something like this!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!...............does it make sense?????????????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..............................i wonder how long i can make myself do this.............................it is driving me nuts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!............i want to punch myself in the face for doing it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..............seriously!!!!!!!!!!!!................know what i mean???????????????????????????

omigosh. yak. eek. gross. it is so ugly.

i use ellipses...often. they are to only consist of three...count them...THREE dots. not seventeen. and maybe i use them inappropriately, but i think that since i limit myself to the official three dots, i can use an ellipse whenever i want without being annoying...like this.

and further, your exclamation of mundane comments is completely unnecessary. and ridiculous.

and in reality, more than one question mark does not make the question more valid or more serious.

in closing, lay off the punctuation. please. or i'll "hide" you from my fb feed.

never mind, i already hid you.

but really, stop.

a peeve.

really? really? really. really.

you know how to say it. just like seth and amy did on weekend update. it was funny when they did it, right? but i feel like it has become such a huge part of american chatter lately. am i just noticing this, or has it been going on for a long time? i feel silly even bringing it up, but i had to. i beg of you, people, please stop! it's almost as bad as the "seriously? seriously." that grey's anatomy popularized years ago. holy crap, they even have it on a freaking t-shirt!

whew. i just took a deep breath. that's all i really had to say. and this:  please, make it stop.

ah ha!!

this has made me actually LQTM* many times.

so, this is how i am re-investing myself in this blog - simply by reminding us all that we need to use grammar. all night long. and pretty much the rest of the day, too.

*i got "lqtm" from a comedian...i'm almost positive it was demetri martin. i chanced upon one of his stand-up shows ages ago and i have since been able to incorporate lqtm into my everyday vernacular. people knock television all the time, saying it's nothing but garbage. but i swear, i get some of my best material from tv. but that, my friends, is for another day.

i feel smart.

so, it's been awhile. if you are still reading. i mean, maybe ade and i are the only ones reading this. in that case...this is for you, ade.

i get the word of the day emails from merriam-webster. for the most part, i enjoy getting a new word each day. i try to incorporate that word into my everyday conversations. it tends to prove a little difficult because of the population that i work with (staff and clients, alike...maybe that was mean...oh well).

well, today was a word that i vowed i was going to use. several times. because it was super easy to remember and, apparently, has multiple meanings. who knew? merriam-webster, that's who. so, without further ado...today's word of the day.

billion \BILL-yun\

DEFINITION
noun

1: the number 1,000,000,000 : a thousand million b British, old-fashioned : the number 1,000,000,000,000 : a million million

2: a very large number

two things and then i'm done. first, i wasn't aware that billion isn't just a billion. i mean, it could be a thousand million. or a million million. or just a really big number. i like that billion is vague. way to be, billion. elusive and vague. just like a number should be.

second...really, merriam-webster? really? and we wonder why the kids are getting dumb. it couldn't be because the word of the day is soooooo challenging, could it?

well, could it?

an explanation.

little did i know that when i deleted my old gmail account (the one that my original blogger account was linked to), it would delete all the photos i posted on this blog!!! dangit!!!! anyway, a very small part of me wants to replace some of the missing photos. so we'll see how motivated i am once i get started. ahem...if i get started.

i promise next time i'll have something to truly discuss or whine about on this blog. promise.

oh man i just realized it's been well over a year since our last post. it's official. we are terrible. we vow (i am vowing for rachelle, too) to do better.
